The latest National Statistics on the ambulance service in Wales produced by the Welsh Government were released on 30 May according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority website Statistics on ambulance services in Wales include data for April 2012. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 2 May.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • there were almost 33,000 emergency calls, and of these, just over 13,000 were Category A (immediately life-threatening) calls; and
  • 67.8% (8,668) emergency responses to Category A (immediately life-threatening) calls arrived at the scene within 8 minutes, above the all-Wales target of 65%.
