We believe that homelessness must be prevented wherever possible and we will work with our partners to achieve this.

Homelessness is one of the most extreme forms of social exclusion. There will always be instances which result from crises such as fire or flood. More commonly, structural factors such as the housing market and poverty affect the ability of individuals to avoid homelessness and to find their own solutions to overcome it. Homelessness is also often linked to some other aspect of personal crisis.

Everything must be done to avoid an unplanned move from adequate accommodation and to ensure people can act in a planned way to improve their housing circumstances. People must have access to the widest possible housing options. This enables them to secure their own accommodation before they become homeless or as soon as possible after losing their home.
