Health Challenge Wales Voluntary Sector Grant Scheme
The grant scheme exists to strengthen sustainable health improvement and well-being work in Wales.
The scheme
Grants are offered to national voluntary organisations, which can contribute to health improvement and complement national policies and priorities.
Funding rounds invite applications that respond to Health Challenge Wales by:
- developing the NGO Network to raise the profile and contribution of the Voluntary Sector to improving well-being in Wales (by building capacity and capability and proactively engaging with WAG policies);
- achieving sustainable public health improvement within the natural environment to contribute to reducing obesity levels in Wales; and
- providing opportunities for disadvantaged groups/those with special needs to make long term behavioural changes in order to improve their wellbeing. Priority will be given to applications that focus on the socioeconomic and cultural determinants of health; healthy eating, food and fitness; health related behaviours; children and young people with limiting long-term conditions and mental health.
The key health themes of Health Challenge Wales are:
- smoking;
- obesity;
- accidents and injuries;
- alcohol and other substance misuse;
- infections (sexually transmitted; healthcare acquired; vaccine preventable; dental decay); and
- mental health and well being
Applications
The funding for this scheme is committed until 31 March 2008 and is closed to new applications. The new funding round will commence on 1 April 2008.
