New measures introduced by amendments to the Care Standards Act 2000 increase the range of enforcement options available to the Care and Social Service Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW).

The regulations and guidance set out new measures introduced by amendments to the Care Standards Act 2000 to increase the range of enforcement options available to the CSSIW by providing powers to:

  • restrict new admissions to children’s homes and residential family centres;
  • suspend an individual’s registration as a service provider
  • extend such suspensions;
  • impose conditions on registration with immediate effect by issuing a written notice to a provider or manager.
