Announced in March 2012, the School Practitioner Panel is made up of experts from the education sector in Wales.
One of the roles of the panel is to offer advice on how the Welsh Government can use best practice which exists in Wales to improve performance and standards in education across the board.
The Minister said:
"I am acutely aware that we need to improve performance in education, a key part of that is learning from the best and driving up standards.
"The new members of my School Practitioner Panel represent some of the top performing schools in Wales. They have a wealth of experience, expertise and knowledge. Their breadth of expertise will be invaluable."
The Panel will also support the Welsh Government in developing policies which will make a real difference in schools. The panel will be used as a sounding board for Government policies and will provide suggestions to strengthen education for the benefit of Wales’ learners.
The Minister said:
"The panel will provide an important part of policy development, highlighting what they believe will work and what won’t – so together we can make a real difference in the standard of education across Wales.”
The inaugural meeting of the School Practitioner Panel takes place on Thursday 24 May. Members of the new panel are as follows:
