The Welsh Government has unveiled its evidence to the Commission on Devolution in Wales, setting out its vision for the future of Welsh governance.
The Welsh Government’s vision for Wales’ long term constitutional future within a devolved United Kingdom has been unveiled by the First Minister, Carwyn Jones.
The Welsh Government believes that the funding arrangements for Wales are in need of reform.

We have been engaged in a series of discussions with the UK Government on the case for:

  • reform of Welsh devolved funding, and;
  • access to borrowing powers to finance capital investment.

A joint statement setting out the progress that has been made in those discussions was published on 24 October 2012 (see the link on the left hand side of the page).

The UK Government has established the Commission on Devolution in Wales, chaired by Paul Silk (the 'Silk Commission').  The Commission has been tasked with examining the case for financial and constitutional reform.  More information can be found on the Commission's website

The Commission published its first report 'Empowerment and Responsibility: Financial Powers to Strengthen Wales' on 19 November 2012.  The Welsh and UK Governments are now engaged in talks on the Commission's recommendations, ahead of the UK Government's initial response to the report in Spring 2013.
